African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights Resolution 275: Ten Years of Advancing LGBT+ Rights in Africa (UNDP)

In 2014, the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights adopted Resolution on Protection against Violence and other Human Rights Violations against Persons on the basis of their real or imputed Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity (Resolution 275), affirming the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) Africans and urging countries to address violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. 

This report assesses the progress made in 10 countries in Africa – Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe – over the past decade in meeting the obligations outlined in Resolution 275.
